Here you go, my brother, is a gateway to comprehension, knowledge, and understanding of the tradition of the Messenger of God, prayers and peace be upon him, and a crossing over to the meanings originally intended by the words. For the purpose of remembrance (dhikr) is not merely moving the tongue; it is the heart's realization of the meanings uttered by the tongue, the heart's realization of the meanings uttered by the tongue. It is what fills the heart with love, yearning, and attachment to the Creator, Glorious and Exalted is He, with knowledge of Him, and with satisfaction in Him and from Him.
